Lockdown Blog Day 57

Tuesday, 19th May 2020

I love my untidy mess of a desk. It’s like an adventure every time I sit down to write. And today, I discovered an old notepad from three, maybe four, years ago!

In it, was the beginnings of a short story that was never realised. I wrote it in a train station which was an experience. When this is all over – I recommend writing in different locations. It really opens the mind.

Anyway, today I discovered this story and it took me straight back to writing it. So, I vowed to finish that tale and get it out there.

I love being organised. Often, before I start an editing project, I’ll tidy my desk because, somehow, a tidy desk feels right for editing. I can’t explain it – I just feel that if I’m working for someone else (who will never see my desk) I should be tidy.

But writing? That’s totally different. Mess is king! Lockdown is a good time for tidying up and rediscovering those half finished stories – but to tidy up, you have to have mess to start with!
