Lockdown Blog Day 58

Wednesday, 20th May 2020

In exactly six months, I will have a birthday.

Even a few months ago, six months felt like an age. Now, however, six months seems like it will simply fly by and be gone again without anybody even noticing.

Think of the normal annual events that have passed already without anybody really recognising them: Easter, bank holidays, the beginning of Ramadan, half term holidays, VE day… This year, they’ve tried but have been out shone by the domination of lockdown.

Where will we be in six months’ time? Will be living in the shadow of Covid-19 for years to come? Whatever the answers, we must not lose sight of the fact that normal life will return. It must return! (Without putting too fine a point on it, it will have to return or the human race may get a little… stale.)

I hope to celebrate in six months. But who knows how I will be doing it!
