How I started blogging.
This blog was started to support authors and writers and to, selfishly, generate interest in my editing and proofreading business. But from more “business-y” and “come buy from me” blog posts, it has morphed into a more generic writing, editing and self-publishing advice blog.
Which leads me to the next section.
Advice for new bloggers.
Don’t make it all about you. Sure, you have to make it yours but people don’t want to read endless marketing copy. People click “skip ads” on YouTube for that reason!
And secondly, make it pretty! There are enough free stock image libraries now that you can get some very high quality pictures to illustrate your blog. It engages your audience and breaks up your text to make the page more appealing.
Some questions from JN Supermom:
How do you get your followers to interact? Simple. Post interesting, relevant content.
What drives your blog? The wonder authors, writers and editors I get to work with. If they have an idea or a problem it’s perfect material for my blog.
Do you struggle with content? I struggle with selecting what thing to do next! But I’m good at not burning myself out. I’m in a routine: one post a week. (You’ve made me do an extra one!)
What is the focus for your blog? All things to do with the craft of writing, editing and self-publishing.
What’s your favourite drink? It has to be a post-edit gin and tonic!
My nominees and some questions for them:
Why do you blog?
What do you hope to achieve from your blog?
If you couldn’t blog, what would you do?
Holiday in the mountains or at the beach?
- Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their site.

Did you enjoy this blog post? This blog will always remain free of annoying adverts and always be open to all but if you could buy me a cuppa, I’d really appreciate it. Don’t worry if you can’t!
